LANDSCAPES:

Back to the landscapes, this time I'm focusing on a recent trip out to France where I found the cloud formations to be just as spectacular as what i saw on the land.  Also a Swiss landscape from a trip in 2003 to Jungenfrau where I found myself on top of the world.  All are windows into a past where all that is left to work with is a photo and a memory.

While I still plan to follow my interest in Black and White landscapes, im going to take a slight tangent off the path and conduct a few landscapes of the mind and imagination.  this diptych is going to investigate my life, and the time and space influences during the time periods of 1985-1988 & 2003-2006.

Cloud Series.  Im investigating cloud patterns from pictures i took from a recent vacation I took to France.

My New additions to the landscapes will be a Carolina series and a mountain range from Switzerland or western USA or both.

My most recent series are black and white paintings based on photographs of chicago, detroit and western america.  im interested in taking these images and breaking them down into monochromatic values that both interpret end reflect my feelings on the landscapes. The idea of viewer to painting and the position of the taken photograph by the photographer and me the artist interpreting the image that the viewer will immerse him/herself into is a constant thought as i work through this series of paintings.
Winters way of voiding color from the landscape is a dominant daily image reminder that that both influences and drives me to further develop this monochromatic series.
Chicago Images take a look at early 20the century homes on the South side(whats left of them) and looks up north and into the skyline that contains all the amenities and starkness that the modern 21st century city has to offer.  Detroit is my hometown, Chicago is one of the best cities in the world and the one i've decided to take residence, but their will always be place in my heart for Detroit despite its recent bad press.  the out west series is for the soul, every time i go west my mind and body seem to go through a spiritual cleansing, i try to reflect that in the paintings.  My latest addition to the monochromatic series is an 8'x8' arial painting of Rome.  All will be on display April 11th and at artropolis April 25th.
